We spent most of today catching up work, and enjoying the coolness of the house, although the miniMinx happily spent the day by the pool. 

In the evening, we drove into Alès, where we found a steakhouse to have dinner. (Regrettably, possibly the worst cooked ribeye I've ever had*.)

However, that was mitigated by the company, and afterwards we took an evening stroll around Alès. You can just make out the Minx and miniMinx in the reflection off this bit of public art. 

*Here's the thing. Ribeye should be cooked to be at least medium rare and, ideally, medium. Unlike other cuts of steak, you have to allow time for the fat to melt and flavour the meat. Despite the talk beforehand about how the restaurant carefully matured the ribeye itself, it was served rare and thus, tough and way too chewy.
