Chorthippus brunneus

Mrs Catspaw spotted this Common Field Grasshopper (Chorthippus brunneus) while she was hanging out the washing in our back garden this morning.

Curiously, in close-up, it appears to have pierced the blade of grass on which it is resting with one of its front feet.
