Ruesta to Sangüesa
Elena collected me just before 8 and reluctantly I left the Albergue in Artieda, I won’t miss the bathroom situation. I was returned to Ruesta where I finished yesterday and began walking towards Sangüesa crossing the border from Aragon into Navarre. I took advantage of the cooler morning and made it to Undués de Lerda, over half way well before noon. I disturbed a couple of deer and red fox. Thereafter it was a bit of a grind walking across arable fields, interspersed with sun flowers, and the outskirts of Sangüesa which seemed to go for ever.
Tonight I’m in a hotel on said outskirts of the town, built in the 1960s and with only limited attention it feels something of a time warp. The restaurant is closed tonight on account of the death of one of the hotels owners. I had some difficulty in getting out of the place to walk into the town and buy a picnic supper which I’ve just eaten on the small balcony, surrounded by cats.
An easier day tomorrow, a diversion to Foz de Lumbier.
