Spoleto

Is a really beautiful Umbrian town.  It’s set on a hillside with a Rocca (castle) at the top.  The easiest thing to do in the summer heat is to take the scala mobili - a series of eight escalators - up the hillside to the top, then work your way down.  There is a myriad of interesting shops and buttressed streets to explore.
