Sawfly
Sorry, it is another insect today, and less interesting than yesterday's beetle.
At this time of year I see lots of these relatives of bees and wasps on umbellifers but there are four species that are very difficult to tell apart. They usually fold their wings over their back when feeding, obscuring the segment markings.
I was therefore pleased to get this one revealing its abdomen so I hoped I would have a better chance of an ID. Not to be.
To cut a long investigation short, I think it is most likely to be Tenthredo notha, the yellow sided clover sawfly.
Google lens also thinks the same.
Other possibilities are:
Tenthredo arcuata, common clover sawfly
Tenthredo brevicornis, trefoil sawfly
Tenthredo schaefferi, Schaeffer's Sawfly
The cop-out is simply to refer to the whole group of the four possibilities as 'Tenthredo aggregate'.
