New Inventions

Today we went to a lunch to launch the Rotary Club of Greater Blue Mountains. It is a combination of the former clubs of Blackheath, Katoomba and Central Blue. Due to the increasing difficulty in recruiting members the clubs decided to combine. They will continue to have social meetings independently but join forces for fund raising and administration.
Despite the reason for the amalgamation, the event was upbeat and well attended.

The first project is to provide 4 cribs (see extra) for the local hospital. They have a fold down side so can be beside the mother's bed allowing her to get the baby in and out without needing to call a nurse.
Quite a good idea, although I'm not sure why they can't be produced for less than $3,000 each.

The function was held at the Blue Mountains Planetary Health Centre, a rather lavish council sponsored establishment which was formerly the Katoomba Golf Club.
I was intrigued by the garden feature of a "Composting Cool Seat". The lid on the quite attractive seat opens (see 2nd extra) to reveal a worm farm.
