Saturday in Rio

Some marking in the morning for me and Bb went for a local wander, a coffee, and bought a new case for his old phone.

Then a typical Saturday morning walk around Shopping Dos Antiquários, a stop off to say hello in Adega Pérola and walked round to the new place in our old favourite 420 restaurant location, having decided to try their offering of feijoada. However, the loud music blasting on the terrace put us off. A sign of age, we both commented. So…decided on Real Chopp. Lovely atmosphere and light on their shady terrace, but sadly the meat wasn’t up to scratch.

Walked along the front and stopped for a welcome drink at ‘the local place’ on Santa Clara, which I first found in 2008 when I ran a CELTA course here in Cultura Inglesa. Their welcome is always warm and spans all those years.

A siesta followed, long enough to register as sleep on my Fitbit, and then some Yahtzee and fresh lemon juice on the terrace of Tipicamente. I’m now winning. Lights off a bit later tonight. Our bodies are catching up.
