Field Barn

It was a dreary morning. We took it quite slowly. Although it was damp and drizzly we decided to head out anyway. We drove to Matlock, and I have to say I have had absolutely no sense of direction all day. Even checking the map didn’t help me.

We parked up and walked into Matlock. We picked up a picnic in M&S, and then a couple of things in Boots and headed off on our walk.

As ever it was pretty much straight up, through fields. We were in the Limestone Way again. It promised good views, except the clouds were low, and it was very overcast.  When we reached what we thought was probably almost the top of the hill, a bench appeared, which became our lunch spot.

We continued on our way, and it started to brighten up. We walked along lanes and across fields, and then down a lane to the village of Bonsall.  We left the Limstone Way and started our descent back down to Matlock, passing an interesting church which is in the care of the Friends of Friendless churches. We were pleased to get back to the car as were both weary.

Tea was leftover from the week. Later I popped out for a quick local walk, as it was my last opportunity. Then there was a bit of tidying up and packing up.

This is TT walking towards a field barn high above Matlock. I spotted the sign (extra) in Bonsall,a and would love to see their bunting!
