Learning about plants
On our early morning walk along the River Esk this morning, we noticed this beautifully pretty and delicate plant, and through the wonders of AI and the plant identifier app, discovered it is called Ciracea or Enchanter’s Nightshades.
The generic name Circaea refers to the enchantress Circe from Greek mythology. Botanists in the late 16th century believed Circe used the herb to charm Odysseus' companions, hence the common name Enchanter’s Nightshade (not to be confused with the nightshade family of plants, which are unrelated).
On our way back we stopped at Tesco to get ingredients for our evening meal, spaghetti bolognaise, which you can never go wrong with.
I hope you have an enjoyable Monday.
