Lion head
I passed the Victorian lions head drinking fountain in Selbourne this morning and was going to convert it to mono for the challenge, but decided I preferred colour.
The water flows through the lions mouth into the trough.
Next to it is a metal door inscribed ‘The water supply was given to Selbourne by voluntary contributions in memory of Gilbert White. 1894’
Behind the door is a ram pump worked by hydraulics that pumped the water to standpipes in Selbourne until mains water arrived in the village in 1934
