Birth of a Dragon …
… on the little bridge over the pond in our garden. Unfortunately it is a place where the cats like to sit and sure enough, Nexy sat there (you can see her fur at the bottom of the photo). I just saw her paw going out to investigate and intervened, « No, Nexy! ». She stopped and I placed a finger in front of the dragonfly, a Southern Hawker. It crawled onto it and I could gently place her/him on a nearby bush to finish pumping up its wings (extra of its gossamer wings). Fascinating to watch. When it flew off, I wished it luck of course, especially as there is another band of rain heading our way.
We had spent a lovely afternoon with one of my ex pupils and her family. She just had her first baby three weeks ago, so gorgeous. I even had a cuddle! What a tiny, vulnerable being, so lucky to have been born here.
