Another Well Dressing from the Peak District
This time from Stoney Middleton a village in Derbyshire with two distinctly differing faces. The first one, that most people know, is the trunk route of the A623, the main road between Chesterfield and Manchester. The road is very narrow through the valley and particularly through the village. The traffic is fast and relentless. The other face of the village, only a hundred or so metres away from the A623 is an area of beautiful stone houses and a very unusual church, all situated on the edge of countryside.
This well dressing is dedicated to Ethel Haythornthwaite an environmental campaigner who was very active in the Peak District and Sheffield.
There were several other well dressings in the village, all very beautiful, made with real skill and love.
