Caught by the last rays of sunlight

The woodpeckers have eviscerated the 4 top pieces of wood on my pergola so they will have to come off and be replaced - these Icebergs and neighbouring Harlequin roses will have to be hard pruned to make it possible.
A wretched pack of jacķdaws have eaten 2 of only 4 apples on my new apple tree. They have started on the pears on that new tree too so now bòth trees have wire netting bonnets!
