If you can't beat them...

House Sparrows ( Passer domesticus )

This believe it or not was never intended to be a flying bird shot.  Milliseconds before I pressed the shutter the mother bird (the one with the wings up) was putting food into the fledglings mouth.  Great shot I thought.  Imagine my surprise on getting the pics onto the computer and being unable to find a feeding shot.

In the afternoon we went to the Lodge to do some much needed gardening.  The bamboos despite being a clump forming variety was leaning at such an angle you couldn't get past to the BBQ easily.  Ivy was creeping galloping along almost engulfing the picnic table and starting to grab the leg of the BBQ,  So that had to be cut back.  Then the paths being gravel desperately needed weeding.

The guests had a bit of an epic.  The power to 500 homes in the area went down owning to a local farmer damaging the cable.  The electricity people said it would be back on by 4:30.  As they were out this should have been no problem.  The next news was it wouldn't be ready but would be back on by 7:00.  The next message was that generators were being installed.  The last we heard these were up and running and the Lodges all had power.
