The only shop ...

For almost all the time I've lived in this house - all 50 years of it - I've been fortunate in having this Health Food shop five minutes' walk away from my house. As I walked home with an insanely heavy little rucksack on my back (two jars of superior chickpeas, a refilled bottle of laundry liquid) I reflected that actually these days it's the only shop I actively enjoy shopping in. I know the people who work there; I often know another customer; there's always a pleasant shopping experience and the shelves are always full of new and interesting items to look at and try. So as I often mention the shop, I though today's collage could show the loaded shelves as well as the two windows on the street where I used to wait for a small boy coming out of Primary School. We're lucky to have it, the Eco store, and on a silent afternoon in Dunoon (why is it so deserted?) it was an oasis of cheerfulness.

Other than that, what did I do today? Went to Pilates, for a start - only a very small class today, presumably because people are on holiday (or having a car crisis, as one friend was). We chatted and worked and did one demanding new move which involved standing on one foot with the other out in front and then bending the weight-bearing knee ... reader, I managed it without falling over. Then it was home for coffee and Italian and trying to stay awake so that I didn't poke the wrong word on the phone screen (it happens.)

Himself had also been to his Pilates class, and after lunch we were both poleaxed. Whatever it was, this virus we've had has left us both feeling utterly wabbit - I know I was tested negative for Covid, but it does make us wonder. I know the exact moment I was infected - on a bus, in Edinburgh, as we headed up into town for lunch. That coughing woman just in front of me ...

Because of that, my only other outing was to the Eco shop. I did, however, make bread for tomorrow, wash and hang out a smallish load, and sing through some madrigals with Himself to choose what we're singing on Sunday. I have absolutely no resonance, so it was frustratingly muted, and he's still coughing, so it wasn't much fun. Needs must ...

And that was that. Dinner with the cold roast chicken along with oven-baked ratatouille and Ayrshire potatoes was utterly delicious and we are both back to enjoying a glass of wine so we must be on the mend. Needless to say, I've stopped losing weight ...
