Ancient beaver marsh dried out

Lack of any material amount of rain since Spring is depleting local marshes, ponds, fens etc.

Here, the beaver who normally patrols this channel, checking on dams and deepening this very feature is nowhere to be seen.
Below the *asterisk* in the photo is normally underwater, and is his tunnel route into the dense (now browning) marsh vegetation.

This same waterway travels underground to our forest and feeds the brook behind the barn. (now completely dry).

Many creatures are unable to escape these dry-outs.
