Blackberries Tangled in an Oak Tree

Then we reached in and tangled in the blackberries. Yum!
Made fig jam today; pleasurable to make use of my own fruit. First year we’ve had such a crop. In late afternoon, I watched an ongoing battle for position on the fig and nearby apple trees. The scrub jay always won, but had to keep defending its place. Wonder if they ever think of sharing? A flaw in evolution, the way there is always a battle. I think, what I thought were female house finches, may have been pine siskins. It was hard to get a good look.
