Rick Takes A Bath

A while ago I won this plushie Rick (from Adult cartoon Rick and Morty) on a tombola. I was - still am - unsure what to do with him. Keep or charity shop? Either way he needed a wash!

The only real reason I may hang onto him is as a Blip prop for when I can't think what to Blip, and create some wacky scenarios for him. It's not particularly original as a concept as I have seen similar things with other items and characters, but it could be fun...

So yesterday's electrician visit happened...

Finding the source of the problem that made the lights not work was a big challenge for the guys. It wasn't anything accessible and straightforward like a switch or a light socket... So it was necessary to move cupboards and our bed to find the issue. (Of course I hadn't cleaned under the bed... Who does that?)

Several things came to light - a pair of ballet pump style slippers, some kitten toys belonging to Minstrel which he was happy to be reunited with even though he's a senior cat now, a long forgotten jigsaw puzzle from the days before we did online puzzles instead and lots of unidentifiable fluff!

Turns out the problem is most likely down to rodent damage again - not necessarily recent... It was close to where the bedroom floor joins the flat roof of the kitchen and bathroom. It's a while since we've heard any rodent activity. I'd like to find a way of stopping them getting in rather than harm the poor little things once they are in...

There must be a way. If we all live within just a few feet of a rat all the time, but not everyone gets them in their home then there must be a reason why they go in some places and not others?

During the job Minstrel was secured in the back bedroom with food, (He received his tea half an hour early!) water and litter available. He seemed quite happy to be in there, only meowing when he first heard the unfamiliar voices of the electricians, and he was very chilled out and relaxed when allowed out despite all the noise. I'm glad it had not become necessary for them to go into the spare room!

The job's not finished: they will return either Friday or Saturday to rewire the kitchen and bathroom lights (Still no lights in there, but we have Brian's plug-in work-lamp!) and do another couple of minor but important jobs that need doing.

Brian had his ears successfully microsuctioned last night and can now hear again - hurrah!
