Mares' Tail Sunset
Watch That ‘Mares’ Tail
I heard tell the other day, sometimes, time doesn’t pass that away,
especially on the trail
A wise man spoke words of warning about the one end of a horse you should always revere.
And just a little longer than a week ago, I saw it up there in the sky.
A mares’ tail.
Whispy clouds so similar in shape, looks like the tail end, ya know,
the rear.
I recalled his words of caution and snickered a bit, but he was wise,
I knew.
He said that rain would follow in a day or so. I almost called him up right then.
As time would have it in our dear desert, the earth parched from a long dry spell.
Then, this morning it came down slowly to re-remind me once again.
And the Earth drank it in, ending that Hell.
Wisdom has its virtues and lore has its heroes, we pass by each other
sometimes nodding, still a friend.
But this tale is like another, giving weight to those that know the Earth,
When you hear a wise man speak, always give him his worth.
