Old and Wide
A rear view of…. Aklam Hall in Middlesbrough.
We had an appointment nearby this morning and this building seemed to fit the bill for BobsBlips Wide Wednesday.
Aklam Hall. Originally from around 1637 belonging to several generations of the Hustler family over its first 200 year history. In 1935, following the purchase by Middlesbrough Corporation it became a boys school, then a co-ed in 1967 and since 2016 an events and occasions venue, currently the place to go for weddings and it also incorporates a Tomahawk steak restaurant. Also, I think, serviced offices.
Obviously heaps of extensive renovations over the years, but this less well known rear view shows at least one of the early (original?) features of the gateway in the thumbnail.
