A moment in time

Loch and Ben

Since Bob can no longer walk long distances, and I can't do the 10 or so miles required to walk with the club, we have had to reorganise our leisure a little, although Bob is still involved with routing for the club as he has a wealth of knowledge.

We decided on a wee trip on Wednesdays, and this is working well.  Today we drove to Drymen and then Balmaha, and had a nice lunch at the Oak Tree Inn.  It was very busy, not least with walkers who were tackling the West Highland Way.  We had a nice time chatting to people, and then walked along to the jetty looking over to Inchcaillich (The Old Woman's Island although I don't know how to spell it).

My photo is of Ben Lomond taken looking north up the loch, and the hikers are on the leg of the West Highland Way walking to Rowardennan via Mallarchy Bay.  There is a big hill out of Balmaha with big steps up, and these walkers decided to dodge that by walking on a small path round the loch, which although flat is quite tricky.  When I did it I just gritted my teeth and went up the hill.

Back at the village we had an ice cream before the drive home, and did a bit of people watching.  It's amazing what fun that can be!
