Life's Little Moments

Tawny Emporer

I don't often see Emperors in my garden so when I spotted this one on my morning inspection of the garden, I quickly ran back inside to grab a camera and get some shots.  We have another Emperor species here that I also occasionally see, so I had to go online to make certain of my ID.  Not the most brightly colored butterfly, but I think they are beautiful just the same.

It was another blazingly hot day so I've kept trips outside short.  Tomorrow will be much better, thank goodness!

Lots of hummingbirds in the garden right now, including at least 3 adult males still in perfect plumage.  One shot in Extra.  By the end of next month, the males will be mostly gone and by the end of September, they'll all be gone.  They undertake a long migration to Mexico/Central America and this year's young migrate alone, relying on their built in radar to get them where they need to be.

I got my Gallery uploaded for the dog show this weekend with far less drama than usual.  Then I tried to recover some missing files from iCloud (not a successful endeavor) and then tried to troubleshoot my robo-vac (also unsuccessful which means I will need to call customer support - sigh).  Having had enough of technology, I called bestie Peg to chat which was so much more fun than calling customer support!

The listing for my parent's condo should go live today - keeping fingers crossed that it moves quickly.  Dad said the market in the Portland area is down a little right now so we will see.  It is priced to sell which will help.
