Over the water
Disappointed to wake up to a drizzly morning with the cloud low over the hills. We'd planned to drive down to Claonaig to catch the ferry to the Isle of Arran, as Daughter One had planned to meet a fellow NTS Ranger who was involved in a Bronze Age Open Day at the replica Roundhouse at Brodick Castle.
We collected said daughter from the ferry soon after 8am and set off on the 50 mile drive to the Arran ferry. The drizzle persisted but gradually died out and we arrived at Brodick Castle in due course. While our daughter set off to meet her colleague, MrsM and I had a wander round the Walled Garden, before walking over to the Roundhouse.
We left Brodick Castle and drove up to Brodick town for lunch and looked round various other shops before driving on to Lamlash to visit the Coast Visitor Centre - https://www.arrancoast.com/octopuscentre/ -
before making our way back to the ferry terminal at Lochranza. Back on the mainland we returned to Oban in time for Daughter One to catch the ferry back to Mull.
A long day and a long drive, but we enjoyed it. Maybe we'll go back to the island for a long weekend sometime!
