Purple coral pea ...
... is the common name, which is much easier on the tongue than Hardenbergia violacea, the botanical name. The 'violacea' bit is pretty obvious, not so much 'hardenbergia' - which it seems was in honour of a Bavarian noblewoman, Franziska, Countess von Hardenberg, who is described at a 'patron of botany' (more info here).
This attractive plant started flowering in the garden while we were away for the last 3 weeks.
