A bit of a drag

Thank you so much for all the kind words and messages on the blips from the last two days. Sorry the energy to respond to each of them personally has defeated me - I have genuinely felt the warmth of the blip community support helping us along in our grief for our furry family member.

Back in the office today and probably one of the most interesting of recent days on record - did some filming for a training resource with an incredible local charity the Anthony Walker foundation set up in memory of Anthony who was murdered in a racist attack in Liverpool 20 years ago yesterday. I’m so lucky my work brings me into contact with such amazing people who work tirelessly to improve lives in this wonderful city.

Across lunch we had Drag Queen bingo (phone blip only I’m afraid, too much to carry on the bus to pack the camera today). I wasn’t sure when I arrived this morning I was going to go in my slightly insular and gloomy mood but it turned out to be a good tonic and it was lovely to see some institutional support for Sahir, to thank them for their work supporting Liverpool Pride and to see some unexpected faces at a very surreal lunch time event (I mean bingo when sober is a challenge at the best of times…)! It may seem from the last week that I spend half my life hanging out with Queens but I promise in my ten years of being here this is the first such work hosted event. Hopefully there will be more. Also much kudos to our wonderful host Debs Darling who worked hard in a room filled with people uncertain what to expect and in a seminar room standing at 7 foot tall with the heels against some fairly intense lights in her face…

Meanwhile 1 day left of work before our annual leave, demonstrated aptly by my voice which is almost, but not quite, gone. By the time 5pm Friday hits it will doubtless have disappeared along with my will to look at emails or turn on a computer.
