An Oak Bush-cricket alights on my laptop
Last Sunday I blipped a cricket (I’d wrongly identified it as a grasshopper!) which happened to appear on the wall of our ground floor utility room, which I then carefully moved out into the garden.
Yesterday morning just before lunch time I was sitting at my desk while using Lightroom on my computer, when an unusual insect suddenly leapt up onto the standalone screen in front of my eyes. I hadn’t noticed it before so I quickly picked up my phone which was beside me and snatched a couple of pictures, before it then leapt away again and disappeared into my study. The room is on the second floor of the house, so I’ve no idea how it reached here, other than through the window overlooking the garden. I’ve added a picture of it as an ‘Extra’.
Then late this evening, again when using my desktop computer, I was rather startled by this Oak Bush-cricket which out of nowhere landed on my laptop on the desk beside me. Again I picked up my phone and grabbed this picture back lit by a table lamp. It soon turned tail and leapt off into the unknown. I fear it won’t have made it out into the big wide world beyond, but I haven’t seen it again.
Now as I write this journal entry, during a shower of rain, as a thunder storm ended, a little blue tit has landed on the frame of my open window and looked in on me at my desk. What is going on? Is nature saying something? I shouted at it to go away as our cat was likely to leap up and attack it.
