Trip to Mänttä

It was time for our traditional summer trip to Mänttä. Unfortunately, Ella is ill, so she had to stay at home, but Leevi and Emma took part in the excursion.

First, we visited Mänttä Art Festival in the Pekilo building. We were all a bit disappointed, most of the art works presented there weren't our cup of tea. I liked most of Heikki Marila's, Tommi Toija's and Teemu Salonen's works.

This year our main destination was the Serlachius Headquarters museum. One of the exhibitions there is Measured and Drawn that presents documented buildings from Mänttä and Huhkojärvi. Architecture students from the University of Tampere measured ten housing-related sites from different eras in Mänttä - and one of the students was our Emma. Her measured and drew the house called Riihikallio, and the drawing is one of the works on the wall of the museum! In addition, they sell post cards and notebooks with Emma's drawing on them in the museum shop. We are so proud of our talented daughter <3

It was sunny and +30°C in Mänttä, so absolutely too hot. But we continued our journey to the Serlachius Manor museum. We liked Keith Tyson’s exhibition the most.

Our last task was to have lunch. We noticed an advertisement of Mänttä Street Food Festival so there we went. This was fun but also a bit tough trip for me.

We had to leave in time, because I had my cancer drug treatment in the hospital at 16:30. It was the 54th treatment for my stage IV cancer.

+30,3°C, sunny, in Mänttä. In Pirkkala it was +29,1°C and more cloudy in Pirkkala
