The weather managed to warm up this afternoon and I had a check of the beehives.
The two hives that were united are happily merged, and busy gathering supplies. I hope they will get on now with the important business of breeding strong plentiful winter bees.
The two hives that were not interfered with are pleasingly full of bees….and some honey! Plenty in their brood nests, and also some in the honey supers. I did sneak off with a couple of frames, after all we need some for the winter months too! We saw the bees visiting Rosebay willow herb, and they were coming into the hive dusted with the white pollen. Now, if the weather was warm for a few weeks, maybe there would be a chance of a bit of a honey harvest after all. Not likely I know, after all it is summer!
