You were saved by the late evening light from the frightening supernatural image of a 21st century reincarnation of King Tutankhamun taken at the end of the Immersive Experience at the Glasgow SEC.
That’s where we went today. It was a good experience overall and technologically very impressive. The main “experiences” were an immersive production telling the story of ancient Egypt, another a virtual reality journey with King Tutankhamun through the afterlife, the third a hologram experience of the mummification process and final experience a VR exploration the discovery of Tutankhamun‘s tomb by Harold Carter.
Before getting to the immersive experiences we passed through a more traditional museum exhibits setting the scene and telling the story of ancient Egypt in general and Tutankhamun in particular.
There was a great deal to read and take in. I thought there needed to be better use of graphics rather than text. Some of the exhibits were above wheelchair height and finally, there was a bewildering animated sequence of Anubis pacing endlessly back and forth across a screen. No explanation of who Anubis was or the God’s significance to the story. Of course you know who Anubis is…
