Butterfly Season
The coneflowers on the golf course are butterfly magnets - bees too, they were just buzzing. I spent a very pleasant half hour photographing them and chatting with the crew. Monarchs and Tiger Swallowtails were most common, but there was also a Viceroy - the Monarch mimic - flitting around.
The Viceroy was a little ragged, but the Swallowtail in the photo was perfect - this is the second brood and they seem to be coming along nicely. I'm sure butterflies will feature prominently in the next week or two.
Much cooler today - winds from the north - sunny but hazy.
