Shot!

Got the chance to play cricket 'properly' for the first time tonight (after being a decades long armchair fan), with a group of folk from work having a social night with Woodcutters CC in Edinburgh.

I was.... awful. But hey, it was fun. My first bowled over I kept everything straight, and only went for 4 or 5 runs. My second bowled over.... I forgot everything I had been taught, went wide a number of times, and had two dead balls... Ah well.

Oh, and with the bat I connected to two balls. One got a sketchy single while being dropped; the other was a much better connection, but I managed to strike my own wicket.... But to tell you how relaxed the night was, there were guys fielding one handed, because the other hand had a beer in it; and pizza boxes were behind the non-striker's wicket, for snacks in between overs.

There were some really good players there, and it's testament to them, and the friendliness of the occasion, that they dialed back for us newbies, and still seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.
