Busy, busy drive to my daughter's in Swansea this morning and a lovely welcome from the boys! Dexter, a friend's dog was there too.
There was a bit of a drama this afternoon. I was in the garden taking this photo when I saw a kerfuffle out of the corner of my eye, Dexter had a bird. I shouted for him to leave it and got him inside, then saw that the bird was a juvenile Collared Dove and he'd gone behind a toy to hide.
Thomas was very concerned as he'd seen what happened and wanted to put some birdseed and water out, which he did very carefully. We then left nature to it, and over the next hour we saw a parent fly down and the youngster move to the far edge of the garden. We'll check it in the morning, but there's not much we can do.
Update: this morning the baby had moved and we saw both parents (presumably) hovering around, also saw the youngster flapping his wings, although not flying. I put more seed out, which the parents ate, whether or not the youngster was fed we don't know. Awkward enough with two autistic children who like the garden, never mind the visiting dog, but we've managed to supervise the dog and dissuade the children. Fingers crossed.
