Crowmarsh: Cattle
Cattle lying down companionably under a clump of Poplar trees on the edge of the village of Crowmarsh Gifford, Oxfordshire, during a visit to Mrs Catspaw's parents nearby.
This is often said to be a sign of approaching rain: maybe the cattle sensed something in the air, but all we experienced in Crowmarsh were a few distant rolls of thunder and a few small spots of rain. Passing through some of the villages to the south on the way home this evening, however, it was clear that a significant amount of rain had fallen there.
