Happy Day!

I’ve had a busy and very sociable day.
Early this morning I phoned Christel - our ex neighbour in Morrinton and asked if she wanted to go on the bus into Dumfries for a coffee. She was so surprised as I hadn’t told her I was up here. So we met on the bus and then walked very slowly
to a cafe. Christel is 90 with very bad eyesight and walks with a stick. On our way we met another ex neighbour and chatted to them for a while.
In the cafe we sat and chatted for an hour and then she went to some shops while I went to other ones and we met at the bus stop. She was quite emotional that I had made the effort. She’s great for her age, goes into Dumfries on the bus (wearing 2 inch heels!) 3-4 times a week.
We said our goodbyes when she got off at her house then when I got to Moniaive I met my friend Lila in the cafe/pub where we had soup for lunch then went into the beer garden to play our ukuleles. It was fun singing together again - we used to perform together as a duo called Heartstrings. The songs all came back and we tried some new ones. We ended up going inside the pub as it was cold. And we carried on singing while the bar filled up. We also laughed a lot. Lila is very, shall we say ‘quirky’ a bit off the wall but so funny.
Once Anna was home from work I went back to hers and Poppy and Arlo were there. Arlo made me my vegan dinner - roast veggies with rice, (delicious) - while they had chicken with the rice. Great conversations were had at the table.
Now it’s way past my bedtime and I’m exhausted.
I’m in Poppy’s room and outside I can hear someone playing Uilleann pipes!
