Market Man
We had a very early start as we wanted to get the 28E tram. Apparently this is a ‘must do’ activity if you’re visiting Lisbon. The Tram 28 route runs between Martim Moniz, near the centre of Lisbon, out to Campo de Ourique. We were on it for about 45 minutes and started to regret having eaten breakfast prior to boarding. It is the most rattly, bumpy, twisty, turny mode of transport you’re ever likely to have the misfortune to experience.
We visited the (famous) Time Out market https://www.timeout.com/time-out-market-lisboa which was quiet at 10am and packed at 2pm when we returned for lunch. They do every kind of food you can imagine. In between, we visited Lisbon Cathedral, the Castle of Sao George and the Mercado de Santa Clara, a huge flea market selling everything you could possibly want.
We’re out tonight listening to Fado music, in the Alfama District. It’s been great but I’m looking forward to a few days relaxing in the sun as we drive down to The Algarve tomorrow.
