Forth Railway Bridge from Dalmeny Station

Two majestic highlights from today. A long held ambition to cross the Forth Railway Bridge was realised on a short trip from Haymarket to North Queensferry..

From the station an excellent Forth Bridges Trail took you around North Queensferry village then up to the old Forth Bridge Road crossing where you could walk across the bridge to South Queensferry.

The weather was superb all day, the rail crossing spectacular and the road crossing just as good. Marvellous and far reaching views in every direction.

South Queensferry is a fascinating little village too, with sweeping views across the Forth and of the bridges. We ended the day with a steep walk up hill to catch the train at Dalmeny station back to Haymarket.

There are plenty of views of the various bridges so I thought this one from Dalmeny station gave a differ perspective to those included as extras - the first extra is from the railway bridge, the second from the road bridge.

This evening we went to watch Barbara and her daughter Cathy in a Rock Choir performance at the Fringe. Very good it was too. It was Cathy’s first public performance. She was very good indeed
