Thames barge race

Yesterday l went over to Faversham with the intention of looking for wading birds on the Oare Marshes.  As l parked the car l looked out over the Swale estuary and was surprised at how many barges there were (usually there is only one which seems to be permanently moored there).  Apparently there had been a barge race on although finished by the time l got there and the boats were waiting for the tide to come in so they could get back up the estuary.  What a great sight.
