Finally Got A Combine!

Late this morning I could hear ‘reversing beeps’ from outside somewhere - nothing visible to the front, but from the upstairs rear window I could just see the top of a combine harvester over the hedgerows. So I grabbed my camera bag and headed off to watch the machine at work. First one I have spotted at work this year.

Fear not, dear blippers, I was not in danger of being harvested when I took this..the machine had already done one run down the field - and the cleared ‘strip’ was between me and that blade! Shortly after taking this, it stopped and turned sharp right to head off back up the field..

You can see how dry it all is from the dust clouds - I guess they were racing against time to beat the forecast storm on Monday. 

It didn’t take that long to complete - and all that’s left now are rows of straw - I wonder when they will get a chance to collect that.
