Deerpark

Walked to Calke Abbey from the cottage.  Decided to join the ranger walk to the deer park that was just about to start.  It was a nice walk with lots of info from the guide about the two types of deer, the ancient oaks, walking lime trees and standing wood and invertebrates.  
We stopped for a compulsory cheese scone and then toured the house.  We've been there before but there's always more to see. 
Walked back to the cottage and then had a quiet afternoon with our kindles. 
Bats in the garden and owls calling across the fields at dusk.
