Not quite according to plan...

Loaded the car in rain and then set off for Bristol. Busy roads through to Gloucester Services where we stopped for a break as always. As we set off again, a warning line came up on the car: 'Engine fault, repair needed'. Very luckily we were able to get off the motorway and make our way to a nearby petrol station where we called breakdown cover. Coincidentally, the person who was going to take an hour to reach us was actually fixing a car in the same place and came to us earlier. After plugging in his computer he said that we had a problem with the ECU and we weren't going anywhere. We had to arrange for the car to go back to Norfolk - a long way... meanwhile we had to hire a car. Taxi to car hire place which had a 25 plate Hybrid Renault Austral E car. Lots of electric features and took out the extra insurance so that was an extra expense I wasn't expecting. Headed down to Bristol to the hotel we stay in. Headed into the centre to do some searching for Wallace and Gromit sculptures on the trail that has been put up. Pizza by the waterside and out to the Girl with the Pearl earring Banksy. Back to the hotel... A bit of a day...  Wonder whether that might be the end for the car depending on the cost of repair...
