Being A Healthy Church!
No rain in sight on this Central Texas summer Sunday, though we have been blessed with not quite as hot as usual temperatures so far. So, we came together to lift our hearts and join our voices in worship and praise to God from Whom all blessings flow. The choir was back in the loft after being off for the month of July, during which our wonderful ensembles blessed us with their sweet harmonies. So, after we started our service with a congregational song and Pastor Wes gave the welcome, the choir and orchestra gave an uplifting presentation of the song, "Holy Forever". That was followed by more congregational singing, before Pastor Wes focused our attention on the last few verses of Acts, Chapter 2. He actually began his sermon with verse 41, which he had ended last week's sermon with, but I didn't get into the sanctuary in time to get that wall shot so you can look it up yourself if you want to. Beginning with verse 42, he told us that the early church did four important things. They consistently and persistently devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread together and to praying together. Now you may think that you know all you need to about each of these things, but I would encourage you to watch the Live-stream to see what Pastor Wes had to say about these things and more. He packed a lot into his sermon for today and I have not covered it all. He even gave us a project to help us pray together as a church during the week about how we can make sure our church is a healthy church and that we are doing what Jesus commissioned us to do. At the end of the service, Matt gave us an update on the youth camp.....
