Keep yer mouth shut

First day of hols (the first weekend never really counts does it, it could be any old weekend until you're not at work on the Monday!) Woken rudely from my lie-in by a text from the mother unit (henceforth to be known as the prioress) saying she was glad we weren't travelling to Scotland today.  Which is a bit random as although we have been to Scotland on holiday for the last two summers, we're not *quite* going that far north this year (which she does know). And we never go this week of the year, it's always the second week in August. So if you can make that text make sense then please do let me know.  Anyway, at least she's glad we aren't randomly travelling to Scotland in a storm for no apparent reason.

Then of all excitements a trip to the dental hygienist.  Really worked on getting the holiday off to an exciting start there.  Overall the deep-clean experience wasn't as bad as I thought, other than paying the bill for a new-fangled piece of retainer cleaning equipment for The Bo.

We watched the end of the cricket (and well-played both teams but hats off to India, and particularly Siraj and his incredible bowling in this Test) while
waiting for the required amount of time for the teeth-cleansing products to wear off, following which myself and RM finally headed to Wezza for our caffeine - I thought I'd get my blip of the weather, much like I imagine anyone in the North of the UK will do today.  Thanks to jensphotos for hosting Monomonday.

We're on the edge of Floris here, we had the heavy rain first thing but that's blown away, now we've just got the hot wind... which in West Kirby is the very hot and very sandy wind.  Trying to capture the alien moonscape this wind had created on the beach I was struck by two things (well, actually I was struck by many things as the meaning of the words "sand-blasted" became abundantly clear).  One, I should have picked my camera setting before getting out of the car.  Two, I needed to keep my mouth shut.  I failed on both, and have been chewing on sand ever since.  Well at least that might keep the hygienest happy.

To highlight the storm dangers here, we have now seen 2 bins blown over. At the 5 bin count we'll issue the national danger to bins warning.

I now need to clean my camera lense, my ears and my hair of sand.  Wish me luck.  Extra... the life guard van on the deserted beach looking out to Wales and the colour shot for good measure.
