Finished
(4/8/25)
It's been another big day. My blip is a before-and-after record of the path that leads to the lodge. The wood gave way about eighteen months ago. The park put a temporary barrier to warn anyone that it is unsafe (!!!). This work should have been done last Sunday, but Reesey, the contractor, was held up in Italy, so it finally got completed this afternoon.
As we knew we had a free morning, we popped into Guildford - to the post office and to browse the M&S sale. It is market day and some of the street was taken up with stalls and food trucks. I spotted a shawarma truck, so I made a beeline for it for lunch. It was delicious and I got £1 off because I am visiting from the Middle East!
We got back to the Lodge just in time for an unannounced visit by the Park Manager. He is very pleased with the work we have done to smarten up the Lodge by getting it painted. It's too bad that the path was fixed after his visit. Reesey worked quickly and changed the look in a few hours, but not being good at estimating quantities of the materials he needs, he sent his helper to get more bags of sharp stone and cement, and after he finished, Eileen & I raced to B&Q to get more gravel to get the finish that you see on the right. Pleased that between us, we managed to carry the 20kg bags and even pour out the gravel. I bought some step lights from Amazon, which arrived in time to be charged and tested in the evening. They are lovely! :)))
And now, I can truly be on holiday (apart from working remotely two days a week).
