Comma
We have two common anglewing butterflies here, this being the Eastern Comma and the other being the Question Mark. While they are quite drab from the side view, when seen from above, they are surprisingly bright and vibrant. This one is fairly worn, but if you look in Extra you can see the remnants of his/her rich colors. Not a butterfly I see all that often in my garden so when I spotted this one fluttering around in the hostas I knew it was worth stalking it. Another species for my YardBugs record for this year.
We dropped Jax off this morning and picked him up just a short while ago. Poor thing is so loopy that Hubs had to carry him into the house (all 66 pounds of him) and he is now laying next to me on the sofa, sleeping. He had a growth and one tooth removed from his lower jaw - the tooth was fine but the vet needed to remove it to get at the root of the growth. He has a combined antibiotic/pain pill for the next five days and we will be feeding him soft food for the next few days. It is so hard to see a pet so helpless, especially one as full of life and mischief as Jax. I confess I shed a couple of tears when we got him home and settled. I know tomorrow he will feel better, but right now he is quite helpless.
So, we will have a very quiet night tonight and hopefully he will sleep well through the night. I have soaked some of his kibbles in water and have given him a few bites which he devoured. I will give him more later.
Thank you for all the love yesterday! I was honestly so surprised to get the ribbons, and so very thrilled too.
xoxo
