Braving Storm Floris in Balerno

Floris huffed, puffed and rattled her way through today. The worst of the winds built late morning after the main band of rain earlier.

These winds were accompanied by squally, blustery showers chased across the sky by bright sunshine. Today’s blip was taken after that band of rain had passed through when a glimpse of sun in the east through a rent in the scudding cloud refracting through the advancing rain.

It was the only shot of the day. I was confined to barracks for the day, having to wait until 8.30pm to get out for a walk. Filled the day with this and that.

What a climax to the 5th test v India. I was disappointed England could not get over the line. India kept on doggedly to the very end. The adage “catches win matches” is always true and England paid the price for dropping 6 in India’s second innings. The excessive number of extras given away by England didn’t help either.

Lots of damage caused around the country, trains and ferries cancelled. I wonder if the Northlink ferry to Shetland set off? The Tattoo was cancelled as were several Fringe shows as was the whole of the programme at Fringe by the Sea at North Berwick.
