Myrtle
My Myrtle plant ( Myrtus communis)has just produced a few flowers, which is remarkable as the plant looked dead earlier this year when it lost its leaves aft er being badly frosted. It's in a pot and quite compact, and is a cultivar raised at Queen Victoria's home, Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. English Royal brides always have a sprig of Osborne House Myrtle in their wedding bouquet.
It is a similar plant to the Luma apiculata I blipped on 17th July. However, while the common Myrtle comes from Africa and Asia, the Luma originates in South America.
We drove to my Mother's house near London late this morning to stay for a few days. We invited her old neighbours in for coffee and a catch up. While they were with us we spotted a fox sunbathing in the garden! I'll put it in extras.
