The Gate

An open gate often reminds me of Winifred Nicholson’s painting ‘The Gate to the Isles.’ This gate opens from a small fenced wildflower meadow in Richmond Park. It was breezy and exceptionally clear today. As usual, we tried to pick out Windsor Castle from the jumble on the horizon, and failed. But we could see planes dipping right down to land at Heathrow. We each had a small Bakewell tart in the cafe.
Last evening we continued our personal film festival with ‘Michael Clayton.’
