They're Here!
My parents arrived safely this morning. A friend of mine from church collected them from Schiphol and dropped them off.
We've had a lovely day together. My parents spent some time lying down this morning, whilst Little Man and I hung out downstairs. They'd had a night flight and neither of them got a lot of sleep, so they were both very tired.
When my dad came downstairs we applied for his Electronic Travel Authorisation ETA for the United Kingdom. Since April 2nd of this year everyone who doesn't carry a British or Irish passport needs to apply for an ETA. My dad's a Dutch national, so he needs one. It took two attempts to get it done and once we'd applied he got an approval within a few hours. This approval is logged on the British Border Force's system so they shouldn't give my dad an issue when he enters England.
Once my mum was up my dad took Little Man for a walk. I took this photo of them leaving. This gave my mum and me the chance to do some things around the house. There is large number of items in the house (and boxes in the spare room) that belongs to them and since Little Man and I will be moving house in October, they wanted to sort out their stuff as they don't want to leave it all to me.
We also went food shopping in Oudewater (I think its the first time I'd been back to the supermarket since we left in October) as the supermarket there is bigger than the one in Waarder.
I'd put some food in the slow cooker this morning, then added some tomato sauce and put the spaghetti on when we got home. Little Man had a bath, supervised by my mum and then went to bed after my parents prayed for him.
Its been a busy day and I'm glad my parents are here, but I'm preparing myself for a possibly intense time with them.
