oh Pussy my Love, what a beautiful pussy you are
Last day of the holiday. We had nothing planned and so looked at what was nearby.
The Screetch Owl Sanctuary attracted me - There is a monkey Sanctuary about 2 minutes up the road, but they are closed to visitors this summer - insufficient funds to provide the level of service required. Which was sad.
We drove over, assuming the new driving position. it's so much safer this way - especially for Si. (See Extra). I enjoy the view and the less stress.
The Owl Sanctuary was a joy. It's quite small, off a small road. (isn't everything in Cornwall). Small car park - but there were several cars there.
Lady in reception was perfectly lovely - She was flirting with Si, she most definitely was. I don't mind. He's perfectly flirtable, and I know he won't stray. He doesn't understand flirting.
We walked straight into a wild animal talk, and I became immediately engrossed with the little specimens behind the speaker, that I didn't walk with them to finish his talk, I spent about 20 minutes gazing at the little weasels and stoats which were running about in tunnels and tubes across a wall. Amazing.
Then it was the owls. So many of them. Two little owls, one of which was laying sleeping on it's perch - Imagine an owl, just passing out - one leg dangling over one side, it's head dangling off the other. It was okay - we stood and watched til he lifted his head, looked at us, yawned and went straight back to sleep.
So many, many different types . Then it was the flying display. Wow. beautiful Two owls brought forward, and flapping around all over the place, and sitting on kids arms. We didn't get a shot. I suppose it's best, because I wanted to push the little kids out of the way.
Then we went for more tea and scones. The cafe was very busy - but that was because EVERYONE who had been watching the bird display walked in at the same time. Twenty minutes we stood in line. I needed the tea after that.
Then it was round the other exhibits. 20 minutes we stood and enjoyed the Polecats. Oh heavens they were gorgeous. Mum, Dad and Nine babies. it took us ages to spot them., but then they came out and we couldn't look away.
Alpacas, who spit, but were cute, goats, who you could feed, Storks, Raccoons, my Dad - was sitting there (Buzzard). Kestrels, a beautiful wee fox. Who smiled. I didn't take that many photos - (ha) - but It was lovely to imprint them into your head.
One of the animal trainers was working with an owl as we walked back to the front. So we stood and had time with him and a lovely Snowy barn owl. He took the time to explain the owl's confusion that they think the
display area is their "territory". And that is why they don't fly away. Oh they were so lovely.
In the shop the lady from reception was there again, and flirted with Himself again. I did share with her that not only did he look after Tooli and I, and treat us, (to a painting and cards), but he bought us cream teas, and he was a good kisser. She did ask to borrow him.
We had a last night dinner at the pub.
Only sadness was that Tooli and her dad never got on the Pool Table. Then we walked home and played Scrabble - we kept hearing a noise - and I walked to the top of the hill to the right of us, in an endeavour to find the source of the noise.
no Chance, but i was so pleased that I walked to the top - not out of breath, and walked back. Scrabble game ended in a fight - Si does not approve of using A scrabble word checker (unless he needs to). He is not a good loser. he cannot cope with me ignoring him though.
And then it was to bed.
Lovely holiday
Noise still to be resolved.
