Solace Day 5 - Monkeying Around
Having come back to the marina yesterday I elected not to go back onto the canal, but to stay and use the boat like holiday lodge and go out doing touristy things.
Today we revisited Trentham Monkey Forest.. This isn't just a tourist attraction, it's a place where they allow Barbary macaques to live a natural life among the trees with supplemented fruit and veg, in order to return some to the wild in countries like Morocco. In past years man has destroyed their habitat but hopefully we have learnt lessons from this before it's too late for these adorable creatures.
The whole troop eagerly await the sight of newborns and spend all the day playing with them. The males take great trouble to look after the young, passing them from one to another as a gesture of friendship between adult males.
Oh! And it's my 6,000 blipday. Some of us remember when we got to 1,000 continuous blips and the office got us to contact local media to do an article. My paper begrudgingly put a small write-up in - without a photo but the BBC online news, did a good story headed by my ostrich blip, you know the one!
Anyhow, thank you all my Blipmates who stop by, look and comment, and to all volunteers who keep this marvelous site going. Looking forward to meeting up with you in person when we can.
